LANDSCAPE LAB
By nature, I’m a curious designer—always exploring new ideas, materials, and ways of shaping outdoor spaces. With the leadership of my wife, Dana, I also own and operate Ponderay Garden Center, which gives me a hands‑on opportunity to test fresh products, planting methods, and installation techniques suited to our region.
The images shown here reflect an ongoing study in color, texture, scale, and material—an experiment in creating a sequence of experiences within a small, defined space. The design began with a cedar fence that frames distant views, introduces subtle height variations, and provides privacy from the retail environment beyond.
Every improvement was planned around existing site constraints, such as placing flagstone over the septic tank to allow easy removal for routine maintenance. Intentional detailing—like the edges of the paving pattern—was developed to reduce unnecessary labor while maintaining a crafted look.
This space is a living project that I build, observe, and refine daily. Alongside a diverse professional background, I bring the lessons learned from maintaining the 8.5 acres of Ponderay Garden Center—to every project. These experiences shape my approach, my expectations, and practical knowledge I share with clients. Welcome to my landscape lab!
