IDAHO CLUB RESIDENCE
NKLA was engaged to craft a planting design that would bring character, structure, and ecological resilience to the site once the home and major site construction were complete. Through a careful study of microclimates, views, and circulation, we organized the landscape into four distinct planting zones: the Native Forest, the Full‑Sun Perennial Bed, the Shade‑Tolerant Garden, and the Native / Native‑Adaptive Foundation Zone. Each zone was shaped to complement the architecture, strengthen the site’s natural systems, and create a cohesive year‑round experience.
The plant palette draws exclusively from the Idaho Club’s approved species list, emphasizing seasonal interest, color harmony, and textural contrast. Every selection was evaluated for cold hardiness, drought tolerance, and long‑term performance in North Idaho’s climate. The resulting composition is a resilient, low‑maintenance landscape that thrives without supplemental irrigation once established and feels authentically rooted in place.
